Nothing beats a big bag of weed, which is why Old Pal created the Ready To Roll pouch. Inside you’ll find a full half ounce of pre-ground flowers with an attached pack of rolling papers. This is convenience meets affordability meets portability!

You have everything you need and nothing you don’t. That means no grinders or rolling trays, all you need is the Ready To Roll pouch and you’re all set. If you read our first Old Pal blog, you’ll know they’re all about unpretentious, for-the-people cannabis, and this Ready To Roll pouch fits their brand perfectly.

This is plenty of good weed in a self-contained, ready-to-go setup. These pouches remind me of the sneak-a-tokes, one-hitter dugouts, and coveted brass Proto Pipe’s that were so popular at the height of mass prohibition. Back when you’d slide just one simple thing into your pocket or purse or backpack, and you were all set. No fuss, just fun!

I spoke with Rusty Wilenkin, the CEO of Old Pal, and he happily told me about the vision he has for the brand, and specifically their new product. “We’re very excited to bring this flagship product to the Las Vegas market. When visitors come to town, they won’t have to get a whole gear setup, or spend a lot of money to have a good time. They can grab a pouch and they’re good to go. We’re making things easy with our Ready To Roll pouches.”

I highly recommend trying this product for yourself. Why?

Because It’s Sun-Grown

Have you ever had sun-grown cannabis? If not, you need to try it.

Sun-grown can refer to a variety of cultivation methods, including full exposure to the sun and elements (often called ‘outdoor’), in climate-controlled seasonal greenhouses, and in year round light-deprivation greenhouses (often called ‘light-dep’). Each of these methods have their pros and cons, but all share on thing in common — the plant takes in and expresses back all of the benefits of growing in natural sunlight.

Cannabis, like almost all other agriculture in the world, has been grown outdoors since forever. It was only during prohibition, and most specifically the War on Drugs in the 1980’s, that cultivators took the plant indoors and away from prying eyes. This led to many, many innovations as growers tinkered with their mediums, lights, and environments. Indoor cultivation has come so far, it’s now considered the standard in the industry.

But, there are many who feel that the plant best expresses itself in natural light, and Old Pal is among this group. Sun-grown cannabis can be just as potent, just as clean, and just as flavorful as indoor. It’s why we see so many cultivators returning to their fields and greenhouses. When cultivated properly, sun-grown cannabis is amazing.

But still the idea persists that sun grown is inferior to indoor. Sun grown doesn’t have the same look as indoor. It’s often a little darker in color, and can lack that glaze of sparkly trichomes that indoor cultivators love to show off. Yet, it’s been proven that sun grown is equal to indoor when best practices are used. Project CBD puts it best when they say, ” … it’s largely a matter of perception and bag appeal.” Meaning, don’t pass on sun grown just because it’s not as pretty as indoor. Consumer Benefits Of Sun Grown Cannabis

The benefits of cultivating in the sun aren’t just for the plant either, but for us as conscious consumers. Sun-grown cannabis can have a lower carbon footprint and be more sustainable to the environment. Plus, with Old Pal’s very deliberate packaging choice, you’re not getting a fancy glass jar presented in a fancier box. They’re beyond all that waste! Old Pal’s Ready To Roll resealable pouches weigh less than the contents, making them some of the most environmentally friendly half ounces you can find on the market. Good work, Old Pal!

And don’t forget about your wallet. Sun grown is often much more affordable than indoor, which lets you smoke a bunch yourself, and pass it around with friends. You know, enjoy it. Old Pal is all about affordability, and these Ready To Roll pouches give you plenty of good weed at a really good price.

Flower One produces Old Pal’s cannabis here in Nevada, and they’ve got quite the setup. Their massive facility features sprawling light-dep greenhouses that can harvest multiple times a year. All told, they can produce 140,000 pounds of dried flower annually! Flower one utilizes the latest in greenhouse tech to produce dozens of strains that pass cleanliness and potency testing as well any indoor facility in the state. It’s Not Shake Or Trim!

OK, let’s get down to the real nitty gritty and address the number one concern about Old Pal’s Ready To Roll pouches — that they’re filled with shake or trim and not 100% pre-ground flowers.

Let’s start with the product itself. The first thing I noticed when opening the package was the scent. That lovely whiff of properly cured cannabis filled the room. I’ve got some Fire OG (the Indica option), that tests above 20% THC and has a strong terpene profile dominant in Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Humulene.

I then checked out the pre-ground flower’s consistency. It’s not powder fine, and it’s plenty moist. The texture is perfect for rolling, with a large enough grind for air to pass through a joint. Some manufacturers grind their flowers to dust, which doesn’t allow for proper air flow when rolled. There’s scuttlebutt that those manufacturers do so to hide leaves and stems. After all, it’s kind of hard to tell what’s what when everything is just green dust. I don’t know about all that, but I do know that these Old Pal pouches are filled with fresh, perfectly ground full flowers.

Old Pal takes this product seriously, and uses a quality grind size that is 1) perfect for rolling, and 2) clearly identifiable as flowers and not leaves or stems. But there’s a better way to tell the quality, and that’s to smoke some. Spark one up and do some quality control of your own. You’ll be quite satisfied!

Having tried the product and toured Flower One, I know first-hand that these pouches contain full flower, as promised. I’ve walked their cultivation and manufacturing facility and met the team that produces this product. Their passion for the plant and the Old Pal brand are evident in the way they operate, and that passion translates to everything they produce.

What To Do With All That Flower?

A half ounce is a lot of flower, that’s why each Ready To Roll pouch comes with a pack of papers. Every pack contains 40 individual rolling papers, so you can roll a lot of joints! And it’s so easy.

Old Pal’s motto is “It’s just weed, man” and the Ready To Roll pouch embraces this ethic wholeheartedly. There’s more than enough here for sharing. Or, if you’re more of a solo smoker, keep this handy for whenever you want to roll one up.

I went with the classic spliff for my first joint. I’ve got other fancier papers and cones and glass and wood crutches, but they didn’t seem to fit the aesthetic. This little half-gram twist smoked just fine and had me feeling great … like good weed is supposed to do.

You don’t have to roll all this weed. You can pack bowls and bongs with it, squeeze some rosin maybe, or maybe even infuse some home edibles. It’s just weed, man. Don’t overthink it and have fun!

Conclusion

Old Pal shows how well they know their own brand with this new product. They didn’t just take the latest industry fad or gimmick and slap their logo on it. They deliberately designed a product that appeals to their rapidly growing fan base. I love this pouch and you will too!
